Procedure for APEDA Registration for Export of Agricultural Goods

The government of India established the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in 1985. The prime objective of this establishment was expansion and elevation of export of agricultural products. Further, the organization replaced the functions of financial assistance and providing a solution to queries that were under the guidance of the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

Mandatory Functions of APEDA

The organization is responsible to upgrade and expand of agricultural product exports. Thereby, their prime functions consist of providing a solution to all the export-related from the production until packaging and exporting. Essentially begins with promoting in-demand oriented cultivation, following which criteria for the scheduled products are set. Subsequently, the packaging, standards set for quality of the goods, Trade Leads and data for export promotion. Besides this, APEDA provides training, financial assistance in warehousing and product manufacturing.

Products Under the Directory of APEDA

The products under APEDA includes fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, poultry, and their products. That apart alcoholic beverages, honey, nuts, cereals, chocolates, pickles, etc., are under APEDA. Any exporter that deals with the above-said products are eligible to sign up with APEDA. It is mandatory for basmati rice exporters to register with APEDA as Registration-Cum-Allocation Certificate (RCAC) is issued for every basmati rice export shipment to clear Indian customs before inspection of goods.

Enrolment Protocol 

The first step is to any form of registration is filling an application, however, the only specification under APEDA is to apply within a month of tasking the business. On applying, the applicant shall be issued a Registration-cum Membership Certificate (RCMC).

The documents are a general custom to verify the genuineness which includes:

  • Application Form duly signed by the applicant
  • Import-Export Code (IEC Code)
  • Bank Certificate
  • Bank Statement (Past 2 Months)
  • Canceled Cheque
APEDA Online Registration Process

Initially, the applicant must register on the APEDA website

Select the option “Register as Member”
Fill the basic information IEC Code, Company Name, Email Id and Mobile Number then click Submit

Ensuring that, a conformation procedure followed that sends a One-time password to verify the basic information provided and to check the mail and contact number authenticity.

Fill the OTP you Received on the email and mobile number mentioned before

Once the basic information is verified, the main application is showcased

Fill all details circled in the APEDA RCMC Application Form
Fill all details circled in Red also if you are MSME Registered please type UAM Number after Selecting Yes
Upload the Self Attested IEC Code and Bank Certificate. Then select Registration fee payment mode and tick declaration. Further Save or Proceed according to your convenience

Further correction can be made if you have saved the application and have not made the payment online by revisiting after entering information and OTP on APEDA website. However, once the online payment is complete, further corrections are not permissible.

APEDA Payment Online and Offline

Finally, after filling the application online make payment either online or offline. The fee for the registering is Rs 5000 excluding GST. Online fee can be paid via credit card, debit card, etc. However, offline fee shall be paid only via demand draft in favor of APEDA. On completion of the payment, an application number is issued that is necessary for future reference.

Exporter can log in to their account by clicking at ‘Exporter’s Login’ using the RCMC No, User ID and Password provided via email.
