Few Indian States Showing Early Signs of Flattening the Coronavirus Curve

Few states and UTs in India see signs of flattening the Coronavirus curve. Too early to come to conclusion but there is evidence of new cases declining in Kerala, Odisha, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

Although low testing remains a widely disputed argument but with 3 weeks of lockdown most Coronavirus patients would have showed symptoms by now. However, if lockdown and social distancing wasn’t followed in India as per protocol we can witness a spike in cases in the coming weeks.

Kerala

Since 2nd of April 2020 under 20 new Coronavirus cases have been reported in Kerala. On 12th of April Kerala reported only 2 new cases, total Coronavirus cases reported in Kerala as on 12.04.2020 are 375 and 179 patients have already recovered in the state. Too early to confirm that if Kerala has successfully defeated Coronavirus but hopefully they will in the coming weeks.

Odisha

Total Coronavirus cases in Odisha jumped from 5 on 2nd of April to 39 on 5th of April. Since then Odisha has reported less than 7 new cases in a day. On 12th of April 2020, no new Coronavirus case was reported in Odisha. Currently, the state has a total of 54 cases out of which 12 patients have already recovered. In addition, one death has been reported in the state.

Uttarakhand

Coronavirus cases in Uttarakhand increased from 7 on 1st of April to 31 on 6th of April. Since then 4 new cases have been reported taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the State to 35. Total of 9 patients have already recovered in Uttarakhand and no death has been reported.

As the Coronavirus curve continues to flatten, no new case has been confirmed in Uttarakhand since 8th of April .

Ladakh

Ladakh reported a total of 15 Coronavirus cases out of which only 4 are currently active as 11 patients have recovered in the Union Territory and no deaths have been reported so far.

No new COVID-19 cases has been reported in Ladakh since 9th of April and the Coronavirus curve continues to flatten.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Andaman and Nicobar Islands had no Coronavirus case on 26th of March 2020 but the cases jumped to 10 on 30th of March 2020. Since then only one case has been reported in the Islands and 10 people have already been cured. Only one active case is currently undergoing treatment in the island.

Coronavirus Curve seems to have flattened in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Manipur

Manipur reported first Coronavirus case on 23rd of March 2020 and second case on 2nd of April 2020. Since then no new cases have been reported in the North Eastern State.

Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh reported it first Coronavirus case on 2nd of April 2020 and since then no cases have been reported in the state.

Mizoram

Mizoram reported it first Coronavirus case on 24th of March 2020 and since then no new Coronavirus cases have been reported there.

We will get to know better once rapid testing begins this week across India. Taking early signs of Coronavirus curve flattening hopefully, India can defeat Coronavirus in the coming weeks of lockdown.
