Janata curfew on 22nd March as PM Modi calls for social distancing amid the rise in coronavirus. The Indian government has ramped its efforts to minimize the spread of coronavirus. Coronavirus cases in India crossed 247 and globally crossed 2,54,654. In addition, more than 89000 patients recovered from coronavirus globally.

Prime Minister advised people to stay in their homes as much as possible in the coming few weeks. Further, he appealed to nationals to observe a self-imposed janata curfew on Sunday, March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm. Besides, he asked people to show their gratitude towards people who are working tirelessly to fight this pandemic by coming out on their balconies and terraces on March 22, 5:00 pm. Further, he advised the elderly (above the age of 60) to stay put in their houses. Self isolation is key to defeating Coronavirus COVID-19 and all citizens must stay home.

Measure Taken to Control Coronavirus COVID-19 Spread

In the wake of spreading coronavirus, the Indian government banned all international flights from entering the country. Coronavirus claimed four lives and affected more than 247 people in India so far. Malls, schools, colleges, theatres, and shopping malls have been closed. Also, religious gatherings and weddings have been put off. The Health Ministry confirmed that the pandemic is still in stage 2, which means that the spread can be traced.

All is Not Well- PM Modi  

PM Modi urged the nationals not to panic and engage in hoarding of commodities. Further, he encouraged to do work from home and go out in case of emergency only. He mentioned that ‘all is well’ viewpoint is incorrect and hence everyone must take precautionary measures to keep themselves and their loved ones protected. In addition, he urged people to call at least 10 other people and inform them about the Janta Curfew. Citing the example of blackout drills that took place in olden times, he encouraged people to practice the same and remain safe.

In all, the Prime Minister appealed to people not to panic, keep calm and stay home to control the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
