Non-Basmati rice prices have increased throughout the country. PR11 prices for sella has increased from INR 3100 per quintal to INR 3300 per quintal and PR11 Steam prices have increased from INR 3300 to INR 3600 per quintal. This is the first time throughout the whole season PR11 prices have hit this high.
Basmati Rice and hybrid basmati varieties have minimal change since beginning of the week. The little increase in basmati price is due to USD getting strong against INR. There is change in IR64 and other non-basmati varieties too, prices have increased by minimum 1 rupees a kg throughout the country due to expectation of low crop during October harvest.
