Basmati Rice varieties of Pakistan namely Basmati 334 and Basmati Sadri genomes were sequenced recently by a team of New York University scientists. This move was good news for the global increase in demand of basmati rice as the crop struggles to sustain in future due to Climate Change. The seed which may be developed in future will be able to fight crop diseases and drought.
