New 60-day crop of 1509 Basmati Paddy is arriving at Mandi’s in the states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The cooking and physical characteristics of 60-day crop rice are not acceptable in the international market but it does give an idea of what prices the new crop of 1121 basmati and other variants will open at in this year’s harvest. Prices for both non-basmati rice and basmati rice are expected to increase by 1-2% due to stronger USD touching INR 70.50 today increase from 68.80 last week.
