Punjab Positive Coronavirus Cases Cross 3000

Overall coronavirus count in Punjab surged to 3063 crossing the 3000 mark as 77 positive cases recorded today. In the last 24 hours, 45 COVID-19 patients recovered in Punjab. Sadly, two deaths were also recorded today in the state taking the death toll to 65.

Punjab confirms 100 COVID-19 positive cases out of every 1 million people. The average growth rate of new infections in the state is 3%.

COVID-19 District Wise Report

Amritsar District remains the worst affected as the COVID-19 tally surges to 601, of which 9 cases reported today. Ludhiana and Jalandhar Districts follow closely with 333 and 323 cases respectively with 26 and 4 cases reported today. Presently, 22 of every 100 positive cases are active in the state. Ludhiana district reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases today.

As on 13 June, Punjab has conducted 1,65,548 tests for COVID-19. An average of 5544 COVID-19 tests carried for every 1 million people.

Punjab Coronavirus Death Rate and Cured Cases

The mortality rate in Punjab increased to 2.12%, still lower against the national average of 2.79%. Punjab has one of the highest Coronavirus recovery rate in India with cured cases at 76.42%. So far, a total of 2282 patients have recovered. Also, the state death toll stands at 65.

Strict Measures to Prevent Coronavirus Spreading

Punjab CM, Amarinder Singh announced stricter curbs are being placed due to the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in Punjab. Further, he ordered mandatory testing for individuals entering Punjab from the national capital. Approximately 200 to 500 vehicles are moving across the border that rises the spreading of the disease. Additionally, Punjab chooses strict curbs while few states are leaning towards the restriction ease under Unlock 1.
