US Capitol Coup: 4 Dead, Over 52 Arrests Made

Hundreds of Trump’s supporters swarmed the US Capitol building to countermand his election defeat. While four died, over 52 arrested were made in the US Capital coup.

Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram Block Donald Trump’s Account

While Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have temporarily suspended Trump’s account, YouTube has deleted his video. Twitter Safety on Wednesday posted that because of the ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C, it has required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets which severely violated their Civic Integrity policy. Further, in case of future violations of the Twitter Rules, it will permanently suspend Donald Trump’s account. Also, in addition to removing Trumps’ video message, Facebook blocked his account for 24 hours. Guy Rosen, Facebook vice president of integrity, tweeted that his tweets can contribute to the US capitol’s ongoing violence. Similarly, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed locking of Trump’s account via tweet.

 Claims Made by Donald Trump

Addressing the riot in the US capitol in a social media message, President Donald urged the rioters to go home. However, he added that he can understand their pain. Further, he termed the recent elections as a landslide and fraudulent and that everyone knows it.

The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington DC confirmed the death of four people during the riots in the capital yesterday. The police have arrested 52 people, out of which 47 arrests were related to violations of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s 6 pm curfew. The rest were charged for carrying unlicensed and prohibited firearms to the capitol building.

The Police locked down the House and Senate and the entire Capitol due to the coup. Involving the use of tear gas, the entire operation took four hours to clear the capitol of pro-Trump rioters who roamed in the Senate chamber, smashing its windows and wreaking havoc.

A video on social media showed a police officer trying to hold back more than a dozen protesters. Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat claimed that such a breach raises security concerns. Also, Democratic Representative Tim Ryan (chairman of the panel responsible for funding the Capitol Police) said that this chaos depicts a lack of professionalism in dealing with a situation. Several politicians and activists criticized by drawing a comparison between the police response in the US Capital coup at the peaceful protests raising the slogan ‘Black Lives Matter’ in summers.

In the end, the lawmakers resumed the business and certified Joe Biden’s win in the elections.

Joe Biden has won by seven million votes in the Presidential elections of the United States of America. Trump has only two weeks left in office.
