Bank Unions went on strike due to government&#8217;s decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/psb-merger-right-step-to-boost-economy\/\">merge 10 Public Sector Banks (PSB) into four <\/a>and demand for salary hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"537\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Strike-Stop-PSU-merger-1024x537.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Strike-Stop-PSU-merger-1024x537.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Strike-Stop-PSU-merger-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Strike-Stop-PSU-merger-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Strike-Stop-PSU-merger.jpg 1043w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Bank Employees Protesting Public Sector Bank Merger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Banks to be Operational only 3 Days this Week<\/strong>  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the strike is planned in such a way that the Banks remain closed for 4 days in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>28<sup>th<\/sup> September happens to be a bank holiday since it is the fourth Saturday of the month and 29<sup>th<\/sup> September is a Sunday. This implies that most of the branches will be functional only for 3 days in the following week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Four Bank Unions Collaborated<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Four bank unions have collectively called off the strike. The unions are: All Indian Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC), Indian National Bank Officers Congress, All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and the National Organisation of Bank Officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, all bank operations are likely to be affected if the strike is carried out. NEFT and RTGS are open from 8am- 7pm except on 28<sup>th<\/sup> as it is fourth Saturday of the month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The union has also threatened that if their demands are not met, they could go for indefinite strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Unions to Protest as well<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All India Bank Employees Association and Bank Employees Federation of India have also announced to call off a strike to protest against the merger of PSBs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the strike takes place it would adversely affect the\noperations of the bank hence government should try to
