Sanjay Gulati, a 51-year-old died because of a heart attack after protesting against scam hit PMC bank. Ever since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/indias-debt-increases-by-almost-4-in-a-year-state-of-economy-alarming\/\">crisis <\/a>at PMC bank, RBI imposed withdrawal limit of INR 25000 per customer. Mr Gulati was stressed because he could not withdraw his 90 lakhs from the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/SANJAY-GULATI-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1003\" width=\"338\" height=\"572\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/SANJAY-GULATI-1.jpg 435w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/SANJAY-GULATI-1-177x300.png 177w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><figcaption>Sanjay Gulati, Former Jet Airways Employee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sanjay worked at Jet Airways until it shut down recently. He was a resident of Oshiwara, Mumbai. He died due to a heart attack at his house after he came back from the protest against PMC banks held in front of Killa Court, Mumbai. His relatives revealed that he was under stress for the past few days because of his money  trapped  in the bank. He and his family had a total amount of 90 lakhs in four accounts at PMC bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Bank Scam<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hdil.in\/\">HDIL<\/a>), the biggest borrower of PMC Bank since 2008. It managed to keep its dues of INR 4335.46 crores unpaid with the help of PMC officials. The matter came into limelight when Jasbir Singh Matta (Manager of Recovery cell, PMC Bank) filed a complaint against Joy Thomas (Managing director), Waryam Singh (Director of PMC) and other officials. Further accused officials for submitting wrong reports on accounts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/rbi-begins-probe-into-agricultural-loan-diversion\/\">RBI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"224\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PMC-BANK-1024x224.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1004\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PMC-BANK-1024x224.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PMC-BANK-300x65.png 300w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PMC-BANK-768x168.png 768w, https:\/\/www.grainmart.in\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PMC-BANK.jpg 1452w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Scam hit PMC bank in crisis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking into the matter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbi.org.in\/scripts\/BS_PressReleaseDisplay.aspx?prid=48218\">RBI put a limit on withdrawals<\/a> from the Bank. Initially, the account holders could withdraw INR 1000 only. The limit increased to INR 40,000 as per the orders of the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Protest<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 200 bank account holders came together to organize a protest in front of Killa court in Fort Area, Mumbai. The accused managing director, former chairman, and other officials arrived at the court for hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress Leader, Sanjay Nirupam, tweeted that many such protests are being held every day in Mumbai.
